Privacy policy
This policy is published by AfterWork Labs ("the developer") who operates the Declutter app ("the app") and its website (afterworklabs.pages.dev/declutter, "the website"), in line with Korea's Personal Information Protection Act. If this English version and the Korean version differ, the Korean version prevails.
1. Why personal information is processed
The app has no accounts or sign-in, and the developer collects no personal information through the app. All photo cleanup runs on the device.
The only personal information the developer processes is a launch-notification signup on the website, used to send one email when the app launches on Google Play (see 2-2). Payments are handled by Google Play; the developer processes no personal information for them.
2. What is processed
2-1. The app
The app collects no personal information. The following values stay on the device, are never transmitted, and are not considered personal information:
- Cleanup progress (Keep/Remove choices, the To remove and To move lists), keyed to each photo's MediaStore ID (
_ID) - Whether the in-app purchase is unlocked
- First install time (for the free trial), free-tier daily usage, cleanup stats, and app settings
What reaches third parties through ads and place names is described in 5-3 and sections 7 and 11.
The free trial's start time is also kept in Google Play services Block Store, so uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't restart the trial. It stays encrypted with your Google account and device backup and is never sent to the developer.
2-2. Website launch waitlist
- Collected: email address, signup time, the language of the page you signed up on, and the referral tag of the link you came in on, if any (e.g. threads)
- How: you type it into the signup form on the website
- Legal basis: processing needed to send the notification you asked for (Korea PIPA Art. 15(1)(4))
- Purpose: one email announcing the Google Play launch. No ads or newsletters.
- Retention: deleted right after the launch email is sent, or automatically one year after signup if the app never launches
- Sending: each email goes out individually from the developer's Gmail account, so no one sees anyone else's address
Signing up is optional; the website works the same without it. The signup record never includes your IP address or device details.
3. Retention
The app keeps no personal information, so there is no retention period for it. The values in 2-1 stay on your device while you use the app. Waitlist signups are kept only for the period in 2-2.
4. Deletion
Uninstalling the app makes the operating system delete everything it stored on the device. Waitlist signups are permanently deleted from storage, and from the Gmail account used to send (Sent and Trash), as soon as the launch email goes out; if the app never launches, records older than one year are deleted automatically every day.
5. Processors and international transfer
The website and waitlist signups are handled by the two processors in 5-1 and 5-2, which means personal information is transferred abroad. Turning on place names in the app causes the transfer in 5-3.
5-1. Cloudflare, Inc. (website, signup storage, spam protection)
- Recipient and contact: Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA · privacyquestions@cloudflare.com (Cloudflare Privacy Policy)
- Countries: the United States and the countries where Cloudflare runs data centers. Signup records are stored in the Asia-Pacific region; Cloudflare chooses the specific data center.
- When and how: at signup, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection
- What: everything listed in 2-2
- Why: to run the website, keep the signup record, block automated (bot) signups with Cloudflare Turnstile, and measure website traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics
- Retention: as in 2-2
- Basis: storage needed to send the notification you asked for, disclosed in this policy (Korea PIPA Art. 28-8(1)(3))
5-2. Google LLC (sending the launch email)
- Recipient and contact: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA · Google privacy contact
- Countries: the United States and the countries where Google runs data centers
- When and how: when the launch email is sent, from the developer's Gmail account over an encrypted connection
- What: email address
- Why: to send the launch email
- Retention: deleted from Gmail's Sent and Trash right after sending
- Basis: as in 5-1
If you don't want your information transferred abroad, don't sign up; you just won't get the launch email.
5-3. Google LLC (place names in the app)
Only if you turn on "Show location", your device sends a photo's capture location straight to the device's geocoding service (Android Geocoder) to get a place name. On most devices Google provides this service. It does not go through the developer's servers, and the developer never receives or stores these coordinates or place names.
- Recipient and contact: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA · Google privacy contact
- Countries: the United States and the countries where Google runs data centers
- When and how: each time a place name is shown on a photo's info screen or in the burst list, over an encrypted connection
- What: the photo's capture coordinates (latitude and longitude). The photo file and other photo details are never sent.
- Why: to show the place name of the capture location
- Retention: per Google's Privacy Policy. The app discards the place name when you close the screen and doesn't store it on the device.
- Basis: your consent (Korea's Personal Information Protection Act, Article 28-8(1)(1)), asked when you turn on "Show location"
- How to refuse: leave "Show location" off, or turn it off in Settings, and nothing is sent. Place names won't appear, but everything else works as usual.
6. Your rights
The app collects no personal information, so there is nothing to access, correct, delete or suspend for it. If you joined the waitlist, you can ask to see, delete or stop processing your signup, or cancel it, through the contact in section 8. We act on it without delay.
7. Safeguards
- Photo analysis and cleanup (Keep/Remove decisions) run only on the device; no photo or its contents is sent to any server. There are two network exceptions. (1) Only if you turn on "Show location" (in Settings, or from a photo's details), the app sends a photo's capture coordinates to the device's geocoding service (Android Geocoder, provided by Google on most devices) to get a place name (see 5-3). This is off by default, and while it is off, capture locations never leave the device. You can turn it off anytime in Settings. Tapping "Open in Maps" hands the capture location to the maps app installed on your device; the app itself sends nothing. (2) Free-tier users see Google AdMob ads, and the ads SDK sends device information to Google. See section 11.
- Least privilege: the app requests only photo access (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) and photo location metadata access (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION) to read capture locations on the device. Neither is used to send photo files out of the app. - The app talks to Google Play Billing only when you buy; card numbers and other payment details never pass through or stay in the app.
- Waitlist signups travel only over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and only the developer can access the storage.
8. Privacy officer
The app is run by AfterWork Labs, whose contact below also acts as privacy officer.
- Business name: AfterWork Labs (애프터워크랩스)
- Business registration number: 801-11-02940 (Korea)
- Mail-order sales registration number: 2026-Yongin Suji-3302 (Suji-gu, Yongin)
- Contact: the developer
- Email: youdidntsoidid@gmail.com
9. Access requests
Handled directly through the contact in section 8; there is no separate department.
10. Remedies
For reports or advice about privacy infringement, you can contact these Korean agencies:
- Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee: 1833-6972 / www.kopico.go.kr
- Privacy Infringement Report Center (KISA): 118 / privacy.kisa.or.kr
- Supreme Prosecutors' Office: 1301 / www.spo.go.kr
- Korean National Police Agency: 182 / ecrm.cyber.go.kr
11. Behavioral data, automated decisions, portability, complaints
- Behavioral data (ads): free-tier users see Google AdMob interstitial ads and optional rewarded ads (for a daily usage bonus). During the free trial (TRIAL) or after purchase (UNLOCKED), no ads are requested and no ad consent form is shown. The ads SDK may send your advertising ID, ad interactions and device diagnostics to Google; none of it includes your photos. Where consent is required (EEA/UK and others), Google's consent form (UMP) is shown before any ad. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in device settings. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Analytics and cookies: the app uses no analytics. The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see traffic trends; it sets no cookies and uses no device identifiers, and it only produces aggregate statistics such as pages visited, referring sites, browsers and countries that do not identify you. When you visit the website, Cloudflare processes connection data such as your IP address to serve and protect it. The waitlist form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block bots; it processes browser and device information and your IP address to check that a person is signing up, and the result is not stored with your signup.
- Automated decisions: cleanup suggestions come from on-device logic only and make no decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. You make every final delete decision yourself.
- Portability: the app collects no personal information, so there is nothing to transfer.
- Complaints: same as section 9 (contact in section 8).
12. Children under 14
The app includes in-app purchases and is for users 14 and older. We don't collect personal information from children under 14, and children under 14 can't join the website waitlist.
13. Changes
